This page explains what Tfaddalu does with your information — both on this website and in the Tfaddalu app for learning spoken Palestinian Arabic. Tfaddalu is run by Bobo Labs Oy (“Bobo Labs”), the data controller for your information. If anything here is unclear, email salah@tfaddalu.com and we’ll explain it.
The short version: we collect as little as we can. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
On this website
What we collect: one thing — your email address, and only when you type it into a sign-up form yourself. We don’t ask for your name, and we don’t try to work out who you are. We don’t buy email addresses or gather them from anywhere else.
Why: to email you about Tfaddalu — mainly the launch day, plus the occasional short update. We don’t sell, rent, or trade your address.
Analytics: we use Simple Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It’s privacy-first: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal data — only rounded-up numbers (visits, top referrers, broad country counts), never anything tied to you.
Cookies: this site doesn’t use cookies. Not for analytics, not for ads, not at all.
In the app
By default, almost nothing leaves your phone. Your lessons, streak, and progress live on your device. You can learn without an account.
Here’s the data the app does involve, and why:
- Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Tfaddalu Pro, the purchase is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. To unlock Pro on your devices and check whether your subscription is active, we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase history and an app-generated user identifier. We see subscription totals (how many people subscribe, renew, or cancel) to run the business — never tied to your name.
- Your account (optional). After subscribing you can sign in with Apple or Google so your subscription and progress follow you to a new phone. We receive your name and email from that sign-in to identify your account — with Apple you can use Hide My Email. That’s all we ask for.
- Pronunciation practice. When you tap the mic to practise speaking, your device records the audio and sends it to Apple’s or Google’s speech recognition to turn it into text so we can check your pronunciation. We don’t keep the recording — it’s used to give you that one answer and then it’s gone.
- Reminders. If you turn them on, they’re scheduled on your device. Nothing about them leaves your phone.
- Backup (only if you turn it on). To restore your progress on another device, we store your learning progress on our own server, tied to your account or device. It’s the same data that’s already on your phone.
What we never do: no ads (first- or third-party), no selling or trading your data, and no tracking you across other apps or websites — which is why the app never shows an “ask app not to track” prompt.
Who else handles your data
A few companies process data on our behalf, each under their own privacy terms:
- Website: Loops (stores your email and delivers our emails), Vercel (hosts the site), Simple Analytics (privacy-first visitor counts).
- App: Apple and Google (sign-in, payments, the app stores, and speech recognition) and RevenueCat (subscription management).
Where your data is processed
Your data lives on your device first. Where it leaves the device (RevenueCat, Apple, Google), it may be processed in the United States or other countries. We rely on those providers’ standard safeguards for any such transfers.
How long we keep it
- Launch-list email: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- App: your progress stays on your device until you delete the app or your account. Backup and subscription records are kept while your account or subscription is active; deleting your account removes them (store and tax records may be retained by Apple/Google/RevenueCat as the law requires).
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything from inside the app: Settings → Delete account.
- Email salah@tfaddalu.com any time to see, correct, or delete what we hold.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- If you’re in the UK, EU, or California, your local rights apply and you exercise them the same way. We process your launch-list email on the basis of your consent (withdraw it any time); we process app data to provide the service you’ve asked us for.
Children
Tfaddalu isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has shared information with us, email salah@tfaddalu.com and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For anything significant, we’ll say so — in an email for the launch list, or in the app.
